Description
“Two Gun Mickey” by Leo Thiele
This beautiful scenes pure nostalgia, Golden Age magic and classic Disney. It features Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse from the legendary 1934 short film Two-Gun Mickey!
The artwork is based on a fabulous original concept and story drawing by none other than Disney luminary Leo Thiele (1894–1972). Thiele was one of Hollywood’s earliest visual pioneers and worked closely with Walt Disney himself at the studio during the 1930s and 1940s.
As a Layout Artist and Story Developer, he helped construct scenes for Disney’s early cinematic successes. Among other achievements, he was one of the principal architects behind the monumental “The Rite of Spring” sequence – depicting the creation of the Earth and the age of the dinosaurs – in the masterpiece Fantasia (1940)!
Indeed, he was such a distinctive personality at the studio that his appearance inspired the character “Reason” in Disney’s Oscar-nominated 1943 short film.
