Inks

Inks

Disneyana+ has entered into a new and exclusive partnership with Patrick Block concerning a new art category: ink drawings.

These inks are both simple and impressive in their expression. The images are not overloaded with unnecessary details, but a lot of focus and attention has still been put into each drawing and character making the inks very sharp and eye-catching. Moreover, the black lines give an impressive depth and contrast. It is easy to see from these works of art why Patrick has won awards for his inks. These ink drawings are made on Bristol cardboard sheets of very high and sturdy quality.

Sir Christopher Wrenn, Who Was He?

During the period 1997-1998, while he was working with Patrick Block on the story titled, Somewhere In Nowhere, Carl Barks was asked to draw some duck covers to be used for Italian comic book releases. He drew these covers in pencil and then asked Patrick to ink the pages on top of Barks’ original pencil.

Barks drew a total of eight covers, and of those eight we have managed to get a hold on three of them (Patrick Block owns two and the rest disappeared somewhere between the U.S. and Italy). The drawings represent the very last direct artistic collaboration that Barks had with another Disney artist. In addition, the artworks are a delight to look at, both because of Patrick Block’s award-winning ink skills, but also because it is still possible to see Carl Barks’ original pencil in several places in the drawings. Here you get original art from Barks and Block the same artwork – it is nothing less than unique.

The pages are signed by Patrick Block with the words:

”Inked by request for Carl Barks from his original pencil design”.
