Donald Duck Bronze Bust – Black patina

Description

Exclusive, limited-edition, high-end fine-art release from the officially licensed Gallery Disneyana+ Collection. This bronze will be produced in two different versions: one featuring a black patina with polished accents and one featuring a fully polished finish. Both bronzes are limited to a single edition of just 13 pieces each + 1 artist’s proof and 1 publisher’s proof. No further editions or pieces will ever be created based on this design.

The subject of this bronze was originally created by Carl Barks in the 1990s for a prototype art tile that never went into production. The image was later re-worked by Patrick Block for use by Gallery Disneyana+ in a limited-edition print project.

The prototype for this bronze was created by American sculptor, Gary Pilla, based on reference sketches provided by Patrick Block.

The bronze is cast at the Danish bronze foundry, CS Metal. The casting process for each bronze involves no less than five molds which can be used for producing just a single bronze bust. This means that each bronze produced will feature unique processing and craftsmanship-related details and subtle differences. No two bronzes will thus be 100% identical.

The bust is fitted atop a polished gray granite base for a total size of 42 cm and weighing in at a massive 17 kg. The reverse of each base features an affixed, custom-engraved brass plaque indicating the Gallery Disneyana+ Collection embellishment, the individual edition number and the Disney copyright font.

Each bronze set is further accompanied by an individually numbered certificate of authenticity signed by artist Patrick Block and  sculptor Gary Pilla. Each certificate is housed in an exquisite gold-foil stamped leather folder.

The bust comes in its own custom, sturdy carpenter designed shipping box with laser engraved details on the top. The box features lifting straps, custom foam side and bottom inlays plus a specially designed protective cloth for the bronze for optimal protection. This box will be shipped inside another box to ensure that the bronze bust arrives safely. The accompanying fine art giclée also comes in a custom black cardboard shipping box designed specifically for the print.

The bronze offered here is number 1/13 of the black patina version and thus the first in line of the just 13 bronzes ever to be produced in this series.
